Desks 32 computer stations at 4-seater carousels 8 individual study carrels 6 lock-up individual study units Desks have pedestals with locks 27 PCs plus 2 Macs with Windows 7, Office 2010 and Skype Users are welcome to use their own laptops at the remaining 19 desks. Wireless connectivity and electricity plug points are available. Desks are available on a daily first-come first-served basis Group facilities 20-seater seminar room with full video conferencing, Skype conferencing and collaboration capabilities 2 discussion rooms with whiteboards for discussions and collaborative work Seminar and discussion rooms can be booked in advance by phone +27 12 420 2802 or e-mail to research.commons@up.ac.za and will be free of charge until the end of January 2012 Printing, scanning and photocopying A self-contained facility is available on site for all printing, scanning and photocopying requirements Pricing and other requirements similar to the rest of the Library Service
Social Space
A variety of seating is available for individual and group needs in this relaxed and attractive social space. A couch, arm chairs and coffee shop style furniture together with a coffee bar, TV and newspapers makes this a welcome space within the Research Commons for relaxation, conversation or introspection.
