Preface :

Pilanesberg Jewel of Bophuthatswana shows an astonishing diversity of natural habitats. Within the confines of the subregion a wide variety of habitats occur, including sandy desert, rugged mountains, humid forests, temperature grass-lands and tropical savannas.

In the days before European colonists assigned names to Africa, the land known as Bophuthatswana, was a veritable wildlife paradise. Assembled on the plateaux and bushveld plains of southern Africa was a diversity of wildlife unmatched on any other continent.
